Weekend Work with Kids?
Last week, the company I work for announced officially that weekend work is now part of the standard Happiness Engineer role. Not every weekend, not immediately, but in the long run, we'll be expected to work approximately 2 weekend days per month, taking those two days off within the week. This is why my kids aren't an obstacle.
If your support staff isn’t happy, you are doing something wrong
Helping others makes you happy. A number of studies have shown the positive impact of supporting others - not only on those who received the support but more markedly on those who offered help. Shouldn't that mean that people in support have a happiness advantage? Helping other people is part of the job description, after … Continue reading If your support staff isn’t happy, you are doing something wrong
More remote working moms
Gracie is colleague at Automattic. Another example of how work-life balance can turn out in real life: Slamming the door behind you at 7:30 AM, knowing you’re running late because that 40 minute commute just turned into a 50 minute commute…sound familiar? We are a distributed company. … Continue reading 50 Shades of Support

Finding the time to run now requires wrangling schedules with my husband and has ceased to … Continue reading The intimate link between my junk drawer and my brain
How I discovered my fascination for support
No one dreams of working in support. Kids want to become school teachers, lawyers, doctors or maybe even pastry chefs, modeling people and situations they've experienced. Your teacher opened up a whole new world to you, just by explaining how letters work to form books. Your best friend’s mother is a lawyer, and that seems … Continue reading How I discovered my fascination for support
My office Setup
Working from home means you can set up your office environment as eccentric or normal as you wish. This is how I did it.
Birthday Reminder Shenanigans
Receiving a postcard is a trigger of happiness for many people, and for me writing them is a source of joy in itself. If only I could remember everybody’s birthday ahead of time!
